On 30 September and 1 October 2025, the SICAPERMA consortium met in Grenoble, France, for its second in-person meeting, hosted by MagREEsource at Le Village by CA Sud Rhône Alpes. During the two productive days, partners reviewed progress across all ongoing project activities, aligned technical plans for the three pilot lines, and strengthened collaboration in communication, ecosystem building, and value-chain integration. Alongside plenary sessions and focused working groups, the meeting fostered team cohesion and strategic alignment as the project moves towards its industrial demonstration phase. The event concluded with a visit to MagREEsource’s facilities, where participants had the opportunity to see how the project’s innovative recycling solutions are beginning to take shape in a real industrial environment.
Turning plans into progress
The meeting followed an effective format, combining collaboration and focus. The first day was dedicated to presentations from each project area, sparking active discussion as teams shared progress, challenges, and next steps. On the second day, partners worked in two dedicated groups: Working Group 1 — Connecting the pilots explored the technological developments and scientific advances within the three pilot lines, while Working Group 2 — Value chain, ecosystem and impact concentrated on structuring the value chain, maximising impact, and identifying investment opportunities. This combination of open exchange and targeted sessions enabled the consortium to align its priorities and translate collective insights into concrete actions for the next project phase.
Taking a closer look at MagREEsource’s industrial operations
The consortium concluded the meeting with a visit to MagREEsource’s facilities in Noyarey, near Grenoble, where participants gained a first-hand experience of how SICAPERMA’s innovations are being translated into industrial reality. The site tour, organised after the plenary sessions, emphasised the project’s strong focus on practical implementation, scalability and industrial relevance within the permanent magnet recycling value chain.
The visit offered a tangible sense of progress, bringing the project to life not just through figures or reports, but through real materials, equipment, and the teams driving the work forward.
What’s next
SICAPERMA now moves into its next phase, with coordinated work underway on pilot materials, integration testing, and value-chain mobilisation activities, which are beginning to take shape in terms of planning and organisation. The consortium will hold regular progress reviews via online meetings and continue to prepare for the upcoming milestones and deliverables outlined in the project plan.
